Great Britain’s largest long-distance rail operator, CrossCountry, has today announced the appointment of Richard Morris as Regional Director.
Great Britain’s largest long-distance rail operator, CrossCountry, has today announced the appointment of Richard Morris as Regional Director.
Richard, an engineering graduate from the University of Loughborough, has almost 20 years’ experience in managing fleet and engineering teams, both at train operator level and for train manufacturers such as Siemens. Most recently, he has been Interim Service Delivery Director at CrossCountry, leading on Fleet, Engineering and Driver Management.
This marks the company’s decisive move to strengthen its decision making regionally with Morris being the second appointee of four regional directors.
He will be responsible for the operational and financial performance of the East Midlands and East Anglia region, helping to instigate change to benefit the customer.
Commenting on his appointment, Richard said: “CrossCountry is unique in that we run services across the UK, but this is an opportunity for us to really focus and improve our services across the East Midlands and East Anglia. As regional director, I am looking forward to working proactively with colleagues, customers and stakeholders to transform the service our customers receive from us.”

Richard will take on his new role at the end of April 2020.

Long-distance train operator CrossCountry has announced adjustments to its timetable from 14 December, as part of the rail industry’s twice-yearly timetable review.

- 14-metre-high mural, created by Leeds based artist Elle Koziupa and Global Street Art, celebrates the journeys that have helped shape Leeds
- Photorealism, painterly illustration and graphics combine to depict the textile carts that powered Leeds’ rise to a northern powerhouse, to CrossCountry trains linking the city’s people and culture to the rest of UK today
- CrossCountry will operate a reduced timetable over the Bank Holiday weekend – with no services on Saturday 23 August - due to industrial action by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT)
- Services on Sunday 24 August are also likely to be subject to cancellations across all CrossCountry routes
- Passengers are advised not to travel on Saturday 23 August and to travel on either side of the Bank Holiday weekend, or claim a full refund
