Network Rail will be carrying out engineering work this weekend affecting some CrossCountry services. We know this will cause some inconvenience, but we’ll make sure you’re aware of what’s going on and help you to plan ahead.
A visual representative of the work this weekend can be viewed here [PDF] and updated timetables are available for you to download on our Changes to Train Times page. Journey planners will indicate the best route to allow you to complete your journey.
- No CrossCountry services will operate between Newcastle and Edinburgh. LNER rail services will be running on an alternative route and Rail replacement road transport will operate between Newcastle and all stations to Edinburgh to allow you to complete your journey.
- No CrossCountry services will operate between Southampton Airport Parkway and Bournemouth. Rail replacement road transport will allow you to complete your journey.
If you are travelling on any of these routes it may take a bit longer than usual to get to your destination, and we recommend you check your journey before you travel.
What are my options?
If your train is cancelled, rescheduled, or significantly disrupted after you’ve bought your ticket and you decide not to travel, you are entitled to a full refund where no admin fee will be charged. Refunds must be requested from your original retailer. This applies for both tickets if you hold two singles tickets for a return journey e.g. Advance fares.

You can amend your ticket in the 'My Account' section of the website or our App for a change of journey or fee free refund, if eligible.
