The Poacher Line Community Rail Partnership (CRP) works to develop the local rail service from Nottingham across rural Lincolnshire to Skegness.

Lincolnshire has a great RAF heritage, so when the RAF celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2018, the CRP took the opportunity to bid to CrossCountry’s Community Engagement Fund to back the RAF 100 Appeal and promote 100 years of aviation along the route.

In a six-month marketing campaign, the CRP held 1940s-themed tea parties, a music train and family fun days all along the route, culminating in taking an iconic Red Arrow jet to Birmingham New Street to celebrate Community Rail in the City.

Hundreds of passengers enjoyed the events and dug deep to support the 100 Appeal, raising £1000, plus a further £330 for the RAF Association.

We say congratulations to the Poacher Line team for an innovative idea to promote local rail by backing a great cause. The project was recognised at the national Community Rail awards, winning the Best Marketing and Communications category.
