CrossCountry customers wishing to explore the South Downs this summer will be delighted to see the return of the ‘South Downs Rambler’ bus service on Sunday, 7 July.
The service, launched last year, runs from Winchester station and Petersfield station and is funded by the Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership (CRP) and CrossCountry, with the bus operated by Bluestar. Running on Sundays from 7 July until 8 September including August Bank Holiday Monday, the rural route offers stunning views of the South Downs countryside and also provides access to some pretty villages and country pubs along the way.
Three Rivers CRP Chairman, Nick Farthing said: “The rambler service proved really popular last year so, with the help of CrossCountry we are delighted to see it return for the 2019 summer season. It provides travellers with a great way to explore rural Hampshire and the South Downs.”
CrossCountry’s Jody Ball added: “We’re delighted to support Nick and the team with this project. It is a perfect example of how community rail partnerships can promote joined up rail and bus travel for the benefit of visitors to this beautiful part of the country.”
