Following the first spade hitting the ground last September at Haltwhistle station, the redevelopment of the Platform 2 building is progressing well as part of Tyne Valley CRPs £500,000 restoration project.
Tyne Valley CRPs waiting room project, funded by CrossCountry and industry partners, has seen a new roof fitted, 2 studios created, a new toilet and waiting room on Platform 2 at Haltwhistle Station. They have recently confirmed that the first fix electrics are now complete and are awaiting final amendments to the kitchen areas. Once the team have painted the outside of the building using heritage colours, they’ll be looking to finalise fittings for the new canopy and waiting room access.
Converting the derelict areas into useable spaces to promote local tourism and businesses has been a two-stage process. When the completion of the platform 2 building is confirmed Tyne Valley will be getting stuck straight into carrying out the refurbishment of the platform 1 waiting room.
